Andrew, I appreciate the openness about the effort it takes to publish valuable content. This candid approach alone is a leg up on 99% of other writers/publishers out there.

Is "One EVM to rule them all" kind of centralization?

I love beating a good analogy to death, and since you brought up oil fields I thought I'd share. I recently read a biography about John D. Rockefeller who arguably built the first modern corporation in the form of Standard Oil Company and Trust. What fascinates me about the story is that he didn't set out to own the oil fields (that didn't' come until much later). He instead (perhaps unscrupulously) set out to control the distribution channels for both crude and refined oil, at first these were railroads and later these were pipelines. By controlling the infrastructure he controlled the supply and could use this to manipulate markets and stifle competition.

As we set out into our brave new decentralized world with our armor of trustless protocols I think there are so many lessons to be learned (or perhaps behaviors to be avoided) from the original trusts, least of not which is the danger of consolidated infrastructure.
